Community Adjustment and Investment Program
AMEDC administers the CAIP activities provided for by a grant to Linn County from the North American Development
Bank. CAIP grants originated as an aid to communities that have suffered job losses from the North American Free
Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Aimed at creating jobs in our area, CAIP offers business development services and referrals for people wanting to
start a new business and for existing businesses wanting to expand.
Services include small business startup counseling, business plan preparation and referrals to financing resources.
One of the first resources AMEDC recommends for those with a new business idea is Linn Benton Community College's
Small Business Development Center. The SBDC offers online and in class workshops and courses on many aspects of
business startup, from writing a business plan, to marketing and accounting,
to various business software applications.
