Transportation Profile

Highways 

A healthy and well-maintained transportation infrastructure enables business easy access to the rest of the state, the nation, and the world. Albany-Millersburg is on Interstate 5, the primary north-south freeway through the state. I-5 has five interchanges through the Albany-Millersburg area and connects to a well-maintained network of state highways.

 

U.S. Hwy 20 is the primary east-west trade route through Albany and ties the Willamette Valley to the Pacific Ocean to the west and Central Oregon to the east. Oregon Hwy 99E is a major route north-south through Albany with Oregon Hwy 99W a north-south route lying eight miles to the west. Oregon Hwy 34 is another major east-west route which is located five miles south of the city center.

Air Service

General aviation and corporate aircraft needs are met by Albany Municipal Airport, which has convenient I-5 access. Portland International Airport is an easy 90 minutes north, offering the services of 17 passenger airlines and 14 cargo carriers. Eugene, Salem, and Corvallis also offer nearby municipal airports with a range of services.

Rail Service

Two Class 1 railroads serve the Albany and Millersburg area. Union Pacific Railroad and BNSF Railway serve both east-west and north-south connections from Albany-Millersburg. Portland & Western Railroad provides short haul freight lines as does Albany & Eastern Railroad. Amtrak has passenger service north and south from Albany as well.
